Windows server service has stopped

Windows Server 2012 — The DNS service on server has stopped running

EventID 7036 The DNS Client service entered the stopped state .

EventID 7036 The DNS Client service entered the running state .

I didnt follow the step to clean boot, but before you reply, i found an article that suggest to run WBADMIN DELETE CATALOG. So it works for me. I still be able to restore data from backup media, eventhough the catalog is deleted.

During the starting the wbadmin.msc, in the system log, says that Block Level Backup engine service unexpectly stopped. Event ID7031.

I had the same problem and spent a good day looking through all different solutions on the web. Eventually i decided to stop the already crated ‘Backup Schedule’ and then re-creating it again. So far seems to be working and a backup is currently in progress.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. It is help me to. But:

Deletes the backup catalog on the local computer. Use this subcommand only if the backup catalog on this computer is corrupted and you have no backups stored at another location that you can use to restore the catalog.
This subcommand applies only to Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2

I ran this command on Windows Server 2012 )

I had this same issue on my Windows 2012 Ess Sever.

Backup Service would stop.

It was saying a backup was running in the Dashboard, but was stuck at a % and not moving.

1. Remove/backup the log files: C:\Windows\Logs\WindowsServerBackup

2. Uninstall the feature: «windows backup server»

3. Restart the Server

4. Install the feature: «windows backup server»

5. Open Cmd (with admin rights) run:

C:\Windows\system32>wbadmin delete catalog
wbadmin 1.0 — Backup command-line tool

Are you sure that you want to delete the backup catalog? If you delete the
catalog, you will need to create a new set of backups.

Any error events in Event Viewer related to this problem?

Did you have installed Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2008 R2?

Exactly when this problem occurs?

This is a continuing problem for me. It started on 10/28, and there have been no new applications installed on the server since Java was updated about a week earlier. No other apps for over a year before that.

I’ve tried «delete logs/remove feature/reboot/reinstall/delete catalog» with no improvement.

In the Backup plugin, if I click «Backup once. » things work as expected. If I click «Backup schedule. » I get the «service has stopped» message. I also get this System Event:

The Block Level Backup Engine Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 120000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

And this App Event:

Faulting application name: wbengine.exe, version: 6.1.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce79951
Faulting module name: wbengine.exe, version: 6.1.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce79951
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0000000000121f47
Faulting process id: 0x18ac
Faulting application start time: 0x01d36546eebe975f
Faulting application path: C:\Windows\system32\wbengine.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\wbengine.exe
Report Id: 46ec1931-d13a-11e7-b817-0025909a4cce

If this can’t be fixed, I can create a repeating «backup once» script if someone can tell me what the CLI should look like.

Doing a clean O/S install is not an option.
