2. Перейдите во вкладку «Производительность» и выберите «Открыть монитор ресурсов».

Перейдите во вкладку «ЦП», нажмите правой кнопкой мыши на процесс «sppsvc.exe» и выберите «Приостановить процесс».

Если после перезагрузки системы процесс снова заработает и ЦП будет загружен, то необходимо полностью отключить службу через специальное меню. Для этого откройте «Пуск», введите там «Службы» и перейдите к ним.

Здесь найдите строку «Защита программного обеспечения», нажмите на нее левой кнопкой мыши и выберите «Остановить службу».

Приостановить процесс получается далеко не всегда, да и после перезагрузки, как правило, он появляется снова. К тому же, очень часто слетает активация винды и офиса. Проблема загрузки проца возникает после конфликта sppsvc с некоторыми версиями активаторов KMS и планировщиком заданий.
Лично мне помогло следующее: удаление файлов KMS из системных папок и реестра, затем, находим папку %windir%\windows\system32\tasks. Назначаем себя владельцем. Удаляем ошмётки KMS-активатора и планировщик офиса. Заходим в папку %windir%\windows\system32\tasks\microsoft\windows\SoftwareProtectionPlatform — удаляем оттуда всё. Перезагружаемся. Служба работает по-прежнему, но проц уже не грузит. После выполненной процедуры загрузка проца (AMD FX 8350) в пиковом режиме работы службы упала с 25% до 0,5-1,2% . Активация винды не слетела. Слетела лишь активация офиса. Но он и без активации работает, лишь в момент запуска пишет, что копия не активирована. Если напрягает слетевшая активация офиса, его можно снова активировать последней версией KMS-активатора с последующим его удалением. Проверено на Win 8.1 Pro, Microsoft Ofice 2010. На Win 10 название директорий могут отличаться, но суть та же.

Спасибо, реально помогло на офисном ноутбуке. После перезагрузки показалось, что то же самое, но через 10 минут загрузка упала с 90% до 2. Правда активация офиса слетела начисто и никак не заактивировать. Да и черт с ним, он и так работает, главное что ноутбук превратился из кирпича в компьютер.

Сдаётся мне, это как-то связано именно с активацией офиса. Потому что, если не очистить папку %windir%\windows\system32\tasks\microsoft\windows\SoftwareProtectionPlatform, то после перезагрузки в папке %windir%\windows\system32\tasks снова появляются запланированные задания для офиса, причём даже удаление офиса не приносит результатов. Тут, скорее всего, дело не в Microsoft, а косяк хакеров, разрабатывающих KMS.

Из всех предложенных способов только твой оказался реально рабочим. Огромное спасибо.Причем, что интересно, активация офиса не слетела, хотя папка windows\system32\tasks\microsoft\windows\SoftwareProtectionPlatform отчищена и все упоминания KMS на компе удалены.

I would actually like you to explain the users to delete or cripple the reg. key (hint: «sppsvc» from HKLM SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services ) and stop this ludicrous, crazy thing once and for all. It’s not an essential platform for Windows to run and it’s also collecting & sending data (god knows what) from my own property.

If MS can’t protect their products without interrupting my convenience and invading my privacy they should not attempt to do so. I, as well as many people like myself demand the method to get rid of the service until MS finds a silent way of piracy checking. My CPUs are there for computing for what serves MY best interest and only.

I totally agree with that just want to mention that altering the sppsvc may result in win 10 all of a sudden showing that it is not activated and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it other than restoring the sppsvc again. I experienced that myself twice and I had an awful time figuring out why.

If your security software didn’t find any virus/malware, l et’s boot the computer in Safe Mode and check if issue reappears. Safe mode is a diagnostic mode that starts your computer in a limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started. The words Safe Mode appear in the corners of your monitor to identify which Windows mode you’re using. You may refer to the article mentioned below to boot the computer in safe mode.

If computer works fine in safe mode then try to perform clean boot and see if it brings any difference.

There might be a chance that there is some system file corruption. So, I would suggest you to run SFC scan and see if it brings any difference.

[SOLVED] cannot start/enable Software Protection (sppsvc) Service

I cannot start service sppsvc.exe

I already tried to change registry setting in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE–> SOFTWARE–> Microsoft–> Windows NT–> CurrentVersion–> SoftwareProtectionPlatform

permission to read and write (Full control)

but, the service still not enabled.

it makes my windows in notification mode.

this problem starts happening after I install latest insider build version 1511 (14267.1000)

what can I do to solve this problem?

Software Protection Platform Service Sppsvc.exe causing High CPU usage

Microsoft Software Protection Platform allows the company to validate Microsoft services, and make sure nobody tampers with Windows or any Microsoft software including Office, OneDrive and so on. The process which does this job on Windows 10 is Sppsvc.exe. It may so happen that you may be facing an issue where Sppsvc.exe is causing High CPU usage. It in this post we will figure a way to find a fix for that.

Do not disable this service or delete it by any means. If you do so, Windows activation, Office activation, etc. will fail. You will see activation watermark on the desktop. I have seen a lot of reports about it, and its not a good move, unless you are not bothered about it. There is a registry key hack (HKLMSYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services), and if you alter it any way, you may not be able to restore it.

Now that the warnings are cleared let’s take a look at possible solutions. The chances are that if Sppsvc.exe is causing High CPU usage, it means that it is stuck with validations, and is not able to complete. We have noticed users reporting it with 30-40% CPU usage. Here are the things you can take a look at:

1. Kill sppsvc.exe
2. Stop Software Protection Services
3. Scan & Check for Malware
4. Check Windows Activation.

1] Kill sppsvc.exe

• Right-click on the Taskbar and choose to open Task Manager
• Under the processes tab, look for
  • Microsoft Software Protection Platform Service listing
  • or MMC > Services > Software Protection Properties (Local computer)
• Right click on the program, and choose to end task.

It will make sure to resolve sppsvc.exe causing High CPU usage for sure – temporarily at least!

2] Stop Software Protection Services

Microsoft Software Protection Platform Service is set to Automatic (Delayed Start). Usually, it’s not running the background. It is invoked from time to time to check on the authenticity of Microsoft Software and Windows.

This Service enables the download, installation and enforcement of digital licenses for Windows and Windows applications. If the service is disabled, the operating system and licensed applications may run in a notification mode. It is strongly recommended that you not disable the Software Protection service.

• In the RUN prompt, type services.msc, and hit the Enter key.
• When Windows Services opens, look for Software Protection service in the list.
• Double click to open the properties, and click on the Stop button.
• You can also right-click on the service > All tasks > Stop.

The last action will make sure to stop the Microsoft Software Protection Platform (sppsvc.exe), and other related services stop.

Note: There is no way to disable this service, and change the startup method.

3] Scan & Check for Malware

Rare, but its a good idea to check if the file has been replaced by a malware. The best way is to check the location of the running sppsvc.exe.

In the Task Manager, right click on sppsvc.exe, and choose to open the file location. Validate if it is C:\WINDOWS\system32\sppsvc.exe. If yes, then the file is good. If not, then you should immediately delete it. There are a couple of ways to do it depending on the situation.

• Try deleting it directly.
• Boot into safe mode, and then delete it.
• Use a third party anti-virus to get rid of the file.

Lastly, since you have deleted the file, use DISM to restore the files. DISM uses Windows Update client, but you can use a Windows side-by-side folder from a network share or a removable media, such as the Windows DVD or USB media.

4] Check Windows Activation Status

Did you notice if your copy of Windows had an activation issue before the CPU usage went high? It is possible that Windows Activation service is not able to validate a Microsoft software or Windows itself. If you have a KMS or MAK key installed on your computer, you might want to verify the validity of the keys.

KMS keys are still easier as you need to connect with your corporate server to authenticate. But in case somebody has sold you MAK key which is no longer valid, you will need to buy a new key.
