Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store

If you’re in Windows 10 and you’re having problems with an app from Microsoft Store, consider these updates and fixes.

First, sign in to your Microsoft account. Next, work through these possible solutions in the order presented.

Make sure Windows has the latest update: Select check for updates now, and then select Check for updates. Or, select the Start button, then select Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates. If there is an available update, select Install now.

Make sure that your app works with Windows 10. For more info, see Your app doesn’t work with Windows 10.

Update Microsoft Store: Select the Start button, and then from the apps list, select Microsoft Store. In Microsoft Store, select See more > Downloads and updates > Get updates. If an update for Microsoft Store is available, it will start installing automatically.

Troubleshoot games: If you’re having issues installing a game, see Troubleshoot game installations on Windows 10.

Reinstall your apps: In Microsoft Store, select See more > My Library. Select the app you want to reinstall, and then select Install.

Run the troubleshooter: Select the Start button, and then select Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, and then from the list select Windows Store apps > Run the troubleshooter.

Проблемы производительности в играх

Так, например, часть пользователей Reddit сообщает, что обновление вызывает падение производительности в играх. Впервые подобные проблемы появились в KB5000842 Preview, а теперь повторились и в последнем обновлении. Похоже, что Microsoft пока не удалось решить проблему.

Основная проблема связана с просадками FPS в играх, и это может быть связано с настройкой VSync. Также пользователи отмечают и другие проблемы с играми, например внезапное резкое замедление или заикание, продолжающееся несколько секунд.

Судя по комментариям пользователей, проблема затрагивает преимущественно новые графические процессоры, например серии NVIDIA 2000, 3000 и AMD R5. Для решения проблемы предлагается удалить обновление. Для этого выполните следующие действия:

• Перейдите в Параметры > Обновление и безопасность > Центр обновления Windows.
• Выберите Просмотр журнала обновлений.
• Нажмите ссылку Удалить обновления.
• Найдите обновление и нажмите Удалить.
• Чтобы завершить удаление, нужно выполнить перезагрузку ПК.
• После запуска системы зайдите в меню Обновление и безопасность и нажмите Приостановить обновления на 7 дн. Таким способом можно приостановить установку обновлений максимум до 35 дней.

Если вы столкнулись с низкой частотой кадров в играх, которые еще несколько дней назад работали безупречно, вполне вероятно, что в этом виновато обновление Windows KB5001330. После того, как вы избавитесь от него, ваши игры должны работать в обычном режиме.

Ошибки установки 0x800f0984 или 0x800f081f

Однако, это не единственная проблема, связанная с KB5001330. На форуме сообщества Microsoft и на нашем сайте пользователи также сообщают о сбоях установки обновления с ошибками 0x800f0984 или 0x800f081f. Проблема связана с тем, что Центр обновления Windows не может получить исправление с серверов Microsoft. В таком случае модераторы Microsoft рекомендуют сбросить службу WSUS (саму службу и агент обновления Windows).

Циклические перезагрузки

Отдельные пользователи после установки KB5001330 столкнулись с циклическими перезагрузками системы со стоп-ошибкой 0xc000021a и с мерцанием экрана при изменении размера окон Microsoft Edge или Google Chrome.

Если вы еще не установили KB5001330, то можете приостановить получения обновления, пока Microsoft не подготовит исправления. Также рекомендуем обязательно создавать точку восстановления перед установкой крупных обновлений, чтобы вы всегда могли восстановить исходное состояние системы.

«Я получаю постоянный сбой при установке KP5001330 с кодом ошибки 0x800f0984. Это происходит на Surface Studio 2 и Pro 7. Второй месяц подряд нельзя установить накопительное обновление на моих устройствах. Установка приостанавливается на 20%, затем снова на 73%, потом на 100%, затем происходит сбой», — отметил один из пользователей.

В редких случаях также может повторяться известная ошибка временного профиля пользователя. Последний раз об этой ошибке сообщалось в декабре, она создает новый профиль пользователя при загрузке операционной системы после применения накопительного обновления. В этом случае пользовательские файлы и настройки (например, обои) могут исчезнуть.

«После обновления я больше не могу войти в свой компьютер. В нем говорится, что службе профилей пользователей не удалось войти в систему. Профиль пользователя не может быть загружен», — пожаловался один пользователь.

«После обновления Windows предлагает войти в гостевой профиль», — другой пользователь подтвердил проблему.

К счастью, есть обходной путь для решения указанной проблемы. Необходимо либо откатить обновление, либо вручную переместить пользовательские файлы.

Кроме того, пользователи сообщают о сбоях в играх: графических артефактах и значительном падении частоты кадров, но проблему можно решить, удалив накопительное обновление вручную. Лишь некоторые пользователи сообщают об этих проблемах на форумах, и, похоже, они не так распространены, как другие ошибки.

Также многие сталкиваются с периодическими появлениями BSOD (синего экрана смерти)/

«Это обновление сломало Windows для меня и других. BSOD при обновлении сообщал, что определенного драйвера больше нет или он не поддерживается. Если вы загрузили обновление April 2021 Patch Tuesday и столкнулись с какими-либо проблемами, лучший способ решить проблему — это удалить исправление, выполнив следующие действия:

1. Откройте приложение «Настройки»;

2. Нажмите «Обновление и безопасность»;

3. Нажмите «Центр обновления Windows»;

4. Нажмите «Просмотреть историю обновлений»;

5. Нажмите «Удалить обновления», затем выберите KB5001330, чтобы удалить его;

Win 10 update broke my FTL game

Win 10 update broke my FTL game on Steam. Now the mouse goes crazy.

I am sure some of you MS engineers got this simple yet fun game too. And why I can’t access compatibility tab? Where did you hide it? Why did you hide it?

There is a possibility that a recent changes in the system after the update could be causing this issue. To properly isolate this issue, kindly verify the following:

• Have you tried reinstalling the mouse drivers?
• Did you encounter any error messages?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done to isolate the issue?
• Which Windows 10 version/build is currently installed on your computer? To check, type winver in the search option.

The mouse is a USB wired mouse. Did not make any modification on it.

No error messages occur launching, in game or other wise.

I have gone to the folder where the game installed

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FTL Faster Than Light—> properties—>compatibility tab—> Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by: [Application].

This did help after a system restart. But the mouse is still jumping/skipping in less intermittent intervals

I have also try running in compatibility mode: Win 7. Nothing works

My version of windows is 1709 (Os build 16299.19)

I noticed when I launch the game (before main menus shows up) there was 7 sec loading screen. The mouse have no problem registering every move I make.

I will also try this game on my GoG account’s version on my Win 7 laptop. With the same mouse.

Thank you for helping me out. But the transition from my old Win 7 PC to the new Win 10 have not been smooth.

• Does the mouse issue only occurs in the game?
• Have you tried reinstalling the game?
• Have you tried updating the graphics device driver?
• Have you tried rolling back to the previous Windows version/build and test if the issue still persists? This will isolate if the issue is affected by the recent update.

I am having the same issue. The easiest way to reproduce is to slowly move the mouse, and you’ll see it jumping every few seconds.

The cursor does not jump if it’s not moved.

It does happen in any fullscreen mode (native, border or stretched), but does not happen in window-mode.

This never happened before installing 1709 (build 16299.19).

I’ve tried compatibility mode with windows 7/8, and changing the DPI scaling settings, without help. Also tried the compatibility troubleshooter.

The mouse issue only occurs in this game as far as I can tell (tried other full-screen application/games without issues yet).

Graphic drivers (GeForce 980ti) are up-to-date.

I’ve tried reinstalling the game, and the mouse driver, did not help.

I’ve not tried rolling back to the previous windows build.

You can see the cursor jumping at 00:04, 00:11, 00:17, 00:20 and 00:21.

For the first part of the video, I was simply moving my cursor from left to right and right to left slowly. For the second part, I was drawing circles.

It’s really odd that your cursor started to act up while playing a game after installing Windows 10 version 1709 update. We appreciate the actions that you have taken to resolve the concern. However, we would like to know if you have tried to coordinate with the developer of the game. If yes, what is the outcome?

I contacted the FTL game developers via their official forums and they replied that they were aware of the issue and that it was the fall update that caused it. They also have no way to fix it yet. It sounds like after installing 1709 this same bug is affecting other games as well.

I’d like to know how to fix this.

I experienced the same issue after the Fall Creators update. So I contacted Subset Games yesterday, and they replied today with a fix. They released a beta patch available via the link below. Basically you need to go to the Game Properties in Steam and enable Beta content, then let it update or run a ‘verify integrity of game files’. Once update it will appear in your game library with Beta next to it.

Note: This beta patch will break Mods!

I also wanted to point out that of my 111 steam games, only two had issues after the Windows 1709 update, and one I was able to fix by disabling system DPI scaling. FTL was the only one that broke. MS and Dev’s have to work together, and MS can’t fix software they didn’t create. It is unreasonable to blame MS, as seen in this post, their response indicates they really aren’t aware of what is going on with FTL, I could have told you it was a DPI scaling issue not a mouse issue. That is why it is important to directly contact the developer, and it doesn’t hurt to bug them a little, and praise them for creating such an awesome game.
