Windows with tempered glass

Tempered Glass Windows

Tempered Glass Windows are a type of fixture that uses a safety glass and is ideal in homes or building that requires a sturdier window than the standard glass. The flexible glass is usually four or utmost five times stronger than the regular glass, and it does not break into tiny sharp pieces when hit by a force.

This type of glass is produced and made harder by using a thorough process of applying intense heat and then rapidly cooling the glass. The glass becomes more brittle that it shatters into little pebble-shaped glass when broken. This minimizes the danger of being hit by sharp shattered glass. Furthermore, the glass is heat resistant making it an ideal window for public structures required by the building code to use safety glass. This window is also convenient to use in areas frequented by violent weather conditions like hurricanes, tornadoes, and high-intensity storms.

Tempered glass windows are stronger than windows with standard glass, but they are less strong and easier to break compared to windows made of acrylic glass or laminated windows. Though they do not shatter into sharp shards, caution should be taken not to step on the small pebble-like glass because they still can bruise or injure. These types of windows are less costly than acrylic or laminated windows. However, they may need replacement more often than the two types of windows, especially when used in disaster-prone areas or conditions.

Durability, cost of materials and installation and convenience are some of the considerations that are used in buying windows. Tempered windows are less costly and sturdier than standard glass windows. There are various manufacturers to choose from. A critical consideration is choosing the right manufacturer and installer. One can check if the product passes the requirements of the Energy Star and the NFRC indicators such as: the Thermal transmittance (U-factor), Visible transmittance, Solar heat gain co-efficient, Air Leakage and Condensation Resistance.

There are about fourteen manufacturers of tempered glass windows in the United States and more than 1,500 manufacturers in China. Other countries also produce this type of window. This indicates a strong demand for the product, especially in Asia. Here is a list of the producers of the product in the United States.

  • Avery Glass & Mirror produces all types of custom made commercial and residential tempered glass, including hurricane and high-impact windows.
  • Kirkwoodglass – fixes all kinds of windows for residential purposes using tempered glass.
  • Lab Expo – uses tempered glass in its products.
  • Oceanside Aluminum – produces custom windows for luxury resorts, villas and hotels.
  • Cuban Crafters Cigars – manufactures and distributes safety glass and windows such as Bravo Glass Top Humidor.
  • The Fireplace Company – distributes and supplies heat resistant and safety glass windows.
  • Ritz – supplier of two products, the Corner Patch and Corner Patch Fitting.

These companies offer safety glass windows in various colors and in opaque, transparent, or translucent glass depending on the need of the customers. The tempered glass window can also come in different style like single hung, double hung, slider, awning, picture windows, among others.

Best Tempered Glass PC Cases 2021

Best Tempered Glass PC Cases Windows Central 2021

Tempered glass is becoming increasingly common in all of the best PC cases, and for a good reason: it’s desirable for its durability as well as the appearance benefits. If you’re specifically looking for a tempered glass PC case, these are our favorites right now, including the superb Phanteks P400S.

Mighty Mid-tower : Phanteks P400S

This is a stunning mid-tower, sporting ample room for even the largest GPUs, and has many handy features that make for a gorgeous yet functional PC build. It comes with two 120mm fans and supports up to a 360mm radiator and full-sized power supplies, and has soundproofing included for a quieter build. The full-length tempered glass side panel will show off your handiwork to all who gaze upon it.

Monstrous Machine : Corsair Obsidian 1000D

The Corsair Obsidian 1000D is pretty ridiculous. You can install two PC builds inside, as many radiators as you can purchase, and still have room to spare. It’s also very well designed, trimmed in tempered glass all around. But with the monstrous capacity comes an equally monstrous price. Nevertheless, it’s hard to find anything quite like it.

Compact build : Phanteks P350X

Despite being small, there’s plenty of space for an ATX build, with hidden drive cages in the base and at the back of the motherboard tray. The P350X features a 3/4 length tempered glass side panel and an integrated power supply shroud to hide your messy bits. Each side of the front panel is covered in mesh so you’re getting solid airflow, and it supports dual 120mm or 140mm fans in the front or a 280mm radiator.

RGB Fans : Thermaltake View 31 RGB

If you’re big on RGB in your PC build, then you need a case that can show it off. The View 31 RGB comes with pre-installed RGB fans, but more importantly, it’s got full-length glass on both the front and side of the case. Not even the PSU is hidden, because you know, RGB PSUs are definitely a thing. It’s big, easy to build in, outstanding quality, and will shine bright under the lights.

Standing Out : Corsair Obsidian 500D

If you’re looking for something that will really stand out, this is the case for you. Glass adorns its front and sides, showing off the beauty of your RGB-customized build within. Complementing this mid-tower’s tempered glass is a solid aluminum top panel and door handles. It comes pre-equipped with three LL120 fans and Corsair’s Commander hardware to control the lighting.

Tiny Tower : Thermaltake Tower 100

The Tower 100 is one of the best looking ITX cases you’ll ever find. The unique styling means three sides are trimmed in tempered glass, and the vertical design leaves plenty of space for today’s larger graphics cards and plenty of fans. Airflow is fantastic, and the power supply is cleverly hidden in a chamber at the bottom to make sure you’re getting the best aesthetics possible.

The bottom line

A good-tempered glass PC case will really set off your build, showing off your hard work in its absolute best light. Phanteks is arguably about the best PC case maker on the market right now, and whether it’s the mighty P400S or the more affordable P350X, you’ll have a stunning looking and high-quality shell for your new rig. Phanteks cases are also attractively priced besides being high-quality items, just making them even more desirable.

One of the other names to look out for is Thermaltake, particularly for RGB fans and seriously unique looking builds. The company’s latest, the ITX-sized Tower 100 is a breathtaking PC case for small-form builds that looks unlike anything else in its category.

The best news for PC builders is that tempered glass continues to become more common, even on more affordable cases. The benefits over acrylic are numerous, and if you’re spending a lot of your hard-earned money on your PC, there’s no reason not to make it not only look its best but have the added longevity you’ll get by going with glass.

Most of the gamers and enthusiasts do like to show their PC fancy stuff that includes RGB LED lighting, RGB graphics card, RGB liquid cooling, RGB RAM and a whole lot of other components. To properly display your hardware internal components, you need a big PC case with large window panels. Windowed PC cases have been around for quite some time and are very popular among gamers. Windowed computer cases use a transparent or translucent plastic window (acrylic) through which you can see all the components inside the case. The transparent window offers decent visibility and can be prone to scratches. To fully showcase your fancy components in all glory, you need tempered glass PC cases which are becoming very popular among gamers.

Tempered Glass Computer Cases are unarguably one of the best-looking gaming PC cases, but they are a bit pricey compared to the traditional gaming cases with plastic windowed panels. The tempered glass used in these cases is resistant to scratches and offers great visibility to showcase all your fancy RGB LED components with full glory. If you are a person who cares about aesthetics then you must get a tempered glass computer case for your gaming PC. The one slight issue with these glass cases is that the glass may retain some heat inside it and may lead to a slight rise in temperature compared to a plastic based computer case. However, the temperature rise is very minimal or negligible and should not be a major concern if you have good ventilation and a sufficient number of case fans installed in your computer case. Here in this post, I am going to list down the best looking tempered glass PC cases for building a visually stunning and powerful gaming PC.

Hi Akshat, great article. I love that Corsair Crystal 570, and the 560. Concerning the Thermalake P5, what do you think of open air cases? I live in NY and it is quite dusty in the apartments here. Do you think that could be a problem for an open air case? Also, are cases going to be having front side HDMI in the near future to prevent any cable snags with Virtual Reality gaming?

Well dust and insects can be a problem for open air cases. They do look nice but are difficult to maintain. Also i think that we can see front HDMI ports in upcoming cases because of the rise of virtual reality.
