Hi and thanks for reaching out. My name is Bernard. I’m a Microsoft Windows expert and a Microsoft Windows fan like you. I’ll be happy to help you out today.
Actually I have the same problem and by following the steps below fixed my issue, I know some of these steps already done, you have just skip it if you think it will have the same result.
Method 1. Repair Windows Store:
1. Download the Windows Store App Troubleshooter. Link below.
http://aka.ms/solutionstoreapp
2. Temporarily Disable the Anti-virus (If you have third party anti viru)
3. Run Powershell
4. On Powershell(admin), copy and paste the command below:
Method 2. repair Windows Store and update components
Open Powershell with Admin or CMD with Admin (Press Windows key + X then click Windows Powershell(Admin))
Copy each line of command to Powershell then press enter (one line at a time)
net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
net stop appidsvc
net stop cryptsvc
Del «%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\*.*»
rmdir %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution /S /Q
rmdir %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 /S /Q
regsvr32.exe /s atl.dll
regsvr32.exe /s urlmon.dll
regsvr32.exe /s mshtml.dll
netsh winsock reset
netsh winsock reset proxy
net start bits
net start wuauserv
net start appidsvc
net start cryptsvc
-Once done restart the device and check
If none will work from the above solution I suggest to do an in-place upgrade wherein it will upgrade the device to the latest version and repair all issues without deleting any files.
Note: before doing this make sure to create a restore point: https://support.microsoft.com/en-hk/help/402753.
2. Select Download tool, and select Run. You need to be an administrator to run this tool.
3. On the License terms page, if you accept the license terms, select Accept.
4. On the What do you want to do? page, select Upgrade this PC now, and then select Next.
5. After downloading and installing, it should fix the issue.
Reference: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo.
Note: if you receive error: “This Pc can’t be upgrade, follow the steps below”
Method 1. Go to C:\$WINDOWS.
BT\Sources\Panther then delete the file name compatscancache.dat
Then try again or reboot the PC first then try again.
You might not see the folder as it is hidden, make sure to show hidden files first.
Let me know how does it goes and I hope that helps.

Run the TroubleShooter, did it work? I went into Msconfig too (check for a link how to run a Clean Boot — which is always best for installation of Windows Microsoft products).
The Troubleshooter enabled Windows Store Apps for me, I rebooted, and now my upgrade is working. I am also in Admin mode (check control panel — User Accounts) — I also got rid of my Windows password because I don’t know if it’s going to install during reboots unless I had done this.

Win 10 Search: Doesn’t work properly when logged in with domain user
The help desk software for IT. Free.
Track users’ IT needs, easily, and with only the features you need.
This is a problem I’ve struggled with since the Win 8/8.1 days. It seems Microsoft has not solved the problem yet (which I can’t help but find to be ridiculous considering there are millions upon millions of domain joined devices.)
Currently, I’m trying to setup three Surface Pro 4s with Win 10 Enterprise (build 1607). Search works fine for local users but when a domain user (administrator or not) logs in, search only partially works.
What works and what doesn’t? (These are all from the context of pressing the Windows key and typing what’s in quotes below.)
- Works
- «store» (finds Store app)
- «calcu» (finds Calculator app)
- «came» (finds Camera)
- «onedr» (finds OneDrive)
- Searching for documents and folders
- «control» (finds Control Panel)
- Within Control Panel itself I can search and find everything. e.g. Devices and Printers (which doesn’t work from the Start menu)
- Doesn’t work
- «windows up» (doesn’t find expected Windows Update apps)
- «print» (doesn’t find any printer related apps like Devices & Printers)
- «profile» (doesn’t find «Your account picture and profile» or «User Accounts»)
- «reset» (doesn’t find «Reset this PC»)
- «pin» (doesn’t find «Setup PIN sign-in»)
- «corta» (doesn’t find «Cortana & Search Settings» but Cortana itself seems to work fine)
- Within the Settings app I can’t search for anything. The app opens fine and I can navigate it normally but search doesn’t work at all.
What else do I know?
- The computer is fully up to date.
- Store apps open without a problem so this doesn’t apply (I checked everything the article mentions and every checks out): https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/ouc1too/2014/07/22/windows-8-1-store-apps-wont-open-or-close-imm.
- I don’t believe this is a «search index» problem because of all the successful searches I can do.
- When a search is performed the start menu says «These results may be incomplete. «. This never goes away.
The only methods I’ve found that solve this are:
- Going through an upgrade of the OS (e.g. from one Windows Insider build to the next) but seeing as how I’m already on the latest build.
- Logging in as a local admin then deleting the domain user’s profile and starting over.
The 1st solution has worked every time in the past that I can recall but the 2nd one only seems to work on Windows 8/8.1. I’ve tried it a few times and have not had success.
What else have I tried?
- I’ve tried registering the AppX packages: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach
- This executed without any errors but made no difference.
- I’ve done a lot of searching but haven’t found anything describing my issue exactly.
My domain is small and simple. I have many GPOs in place but doing all sort of standard things: event log settings, password policy, folder redirection, a few minor firewall changes, adding local admins, put shortcuts on the desktop, WSUS, etc. I don’t modify any default permissions of any folders.
Any more bright ideas out there? I can’t imagine that Microsoft IT, let alone every other IT department, goes through this. It’s just not possible. There must be something «unique» about my domain.
Windows 10 Parental Controls not working properly
I recently installed Windows 10 and set up a Microsoft account for my son, with parental controls. This works only partly, however: sites that I have asked to be blocked are indeed blocked on Edge, and I did receive a request from my son to access one of them. BUT:
1. I get NO Recent Activity reporting. When I access my Microsoft Account and check my son’s activity in Family, it shows nothing, even though he has been accessing several websites and has been using several apps.
2. He can get around blocked sites by using Internet Explorer — even though Parental Controls state that sites are blocked on both Edge and Explorer.
Any suggestions on how to fix these two issues?

Thank you for the response and keeping the status updated.
The issue could be because of corrupted files. I suggest you to delete the corrupted files yourself and see if it helps
to resolve the issue, please follow these steps:
1) Make sure your children are signed out of any monitored accounts.
2) Sign in with an administrator account and find the folder that contains the corrupted files.
There are two ways to do this. The easiest way is to enter the complete file path:
On the Start screen, type C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Parental Controls and press Enter.
If you’d rather open each folder individually, follow these steps:
a. Go to This PC
b. Open C: , open the ProgramData folder, open the Microsoft folder, open the Windows folder, and open the Parental Controls folder.
3) Delete all contents of the Parental Controls folder.
This will delete any corrupt files. Your settings will be downloaded again from familysafety.microsoft.com the next time you sign in.
Hope it helps. Reply with the result and I’ll be happy to help you further. Thank you

I had this problem and it seems to re-occur frequently when Windows installs updates. Fortunately I found what seems to be a solution (it was on another thread which I now can’t find). It also prevented granting extra time, which was my main issue, but it also caused no info on time spent on the computer etc.
The instructions offered by Microsoft staff were unsuccessful.
The issue seems to be linked to the Mail app. Whether or not you use it, the best thing is to get your child to open the Mail app (which is free in the app store) and pin it to the task bar. Never mind that your child might not be using it. Open the mail app and check that it is syncing. Sometimes there seems to be an issue with the sync (identified by a warning triangle) and you have to go through a process to get the mail app linked to the account again.
My child is now in the habit of checking the mail app is synced every time they start their time on the computer, because if they send a request for extra time, it does not work unless the mail app is syncing successfully.
By the way Microsoft, it’s a total pain that you removed the ability just to add time on the child’s screen, as was possible in W7 and (I think W8). I now have to open another computer to grant extra time.
Camera App in Windows 10 not Working Properly
The Camera App in windows 10 needs updating and fixing.
I have two Microsoft Webcams:-
Microsoft LifeCam Studio.
Microsoft LifeCam Cinema
They both have the latest drivers from Microsoft.
If I try taking a picture with either of these webcam’s I get the same fault code 0xA00F424F.
The same if I try to make a video I get fault code 0xA00F425C.
In both cases the Camera app turns off.
I know the Webcams work as I have tried them in different programs and Skype, so all I can say is the Camera App needs fixing.
All the best Keith.

We appreciate you for being a part of Windows 10.
I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the camera app as you have already tried to update the latest drivers from Microsoft.
You may try to uninstall the apps which came inbuilt with Windows 10 using Windows PowerShell and reinstall using Windows store. Follow the below steps to uninstall the Camera app.
Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell in the search bar.
Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
Enter the below command to reinstall the Camera app.
get-appxpackage *Microsoft.WindowsCamera* | remove-appxpackage
Note : After performing the above steps, install the Camera app form the Windows store.
You may check the functionality of the camera app after reinstalling the camera app.
I hope the above information helps. Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance with Windows. We are glad to assist you.
